Epic Traverse Hidalgo is structured around two distinct formats for two distinct athlete profiles. Capacity is fixed at 50 athletes per format. Entry is not automatic.
For elite and highly experienced endurance athletes. The full 195 km traverse is completed in a single continuous effort. Entry is by invitation or athletic curriculum review — not open registration.

For advanced endurance athletes and relay teams. The traverse is completed across two days with a supported overnight transition between the MTB and canyon/paddle segments. Open registration by category, subject to capacity and mandatory equipment requirements.

Epic Traverse Hidalgo is not appropriate for athletes without prior experience in at least two of the event's disciplines. Technical terrain, remote sections and mandatory rope work create demands that standard endurance racing background does not cover. Review requirements carefully before applying.
