All athletes carry satellite tracking devices issued by race control for the duration of the event. The tracking system allows race control to monitor athlete progression, identify delays and coordinate response if needed.
A public live tracking link will be available during the event, allowing supporters and media to follow athlete positions in near-real-time.

Epic Traverse Hidalgo operates under a pre-defined safety framework developed in coordination with state and municipal authorities. The following measures are in place for the event.
The event is coordinated with civil protection authorities and municipal security at the state and local level. Emergency response capability is planned and integrated into the event structure before race day.
Operational staff are positioned at the canyon stage, rappel sections, checkpoints and transition zones. Their role includes progression monitoring, situation reporting and direct communication with race control.
An emergency extraction plan is developed and in place before race day. The plan covers the canyon stage and other remote sections of the course where access is limited.
Mandatory safety briefings are conducted before race start for all athletes. The briefing covers tracking procedures, emergency protocols, communication expectations and stage-specific requirements.
Monitored checkpoints throughout the course provide accountability and create operational intervention points. Canyon stage checkpoints are mandatory and cannot be bypassed.
Race control maintains an active status record for all athletes throughout the event. Athletes who miss checkpoints within expected windows trigger a defined response procedure.
The safety of all participants is a priority for Epic Traverse Hidalgo. The event incorporates satellite tracking technology, operational monitoring, technical staff, and coordinated emergency response planning to support athlete safety throughout the course.
However, participants acknowledge that Epic Traverse Hidalgo takes place in remote mountain, canyon, and open-water environments where risks are inherent and conditions may change rapidly.
Satellite tracking devices, radio communications, checkpoints, and race control systems are intended to enhance situational awareness and emergency coordination, but they do not eliminate risk, guarantee uninterrupted communication, or ensure immediate assistance in all circumstances.
All participants are responsible for maintaining required mandatory equipment, following event rules and safety instructions, exercising sound judgment throughout the event, managing their own hydration, nutrition and physical condition, and reporting medical conditions or concerns prior to the event.
By participating, athletes acknowledge the inherent risks associated with endurance racing, mountain biking, technical canyon travel, rappelling, open-water paddling and exposure to remote outdoor environments.
PARTICIPATION IS VOLUNTARY AND UNDERTAKEN AT THE ATHLETE'S OWN RISK.
Epic Traverse Hidalgo is designed for experienced endurance athletes. The operational framework supports athletes — it does not replace athlete judgment.
